With a history spanning over 130 years, Tata Communications is best known as the incumbent international long distance operator in India. This shareholder has been the pioneer in introducing new technologies and services in India across segments spanning satellite communication, submarine cables, Internet services or retail voice. Tata Communications has the landing rights in India for the SMW-2, SMW-3, SAFE and FLAG Submarine cables and has recently commissioned the Tata Indicom Chennai – Singapore submarine cable which is 100% owned by Tata Communications.
Tata Communications has also recently acquired the Tyco Global Network (TGN) submarine cable network, as well as Teleglobe, a global voice carrier. Together, this international web of high capacity bandwidth, will serve Tata Communications international ambitions, providing high negotiation power for capacity swapping, thereby making international bandwidth across most parts of the globe available to Tata Communications at reasonable prices.
Each of our other shareholders brings a level of national and/or international expertise and experience to the telecoms skillset, which has contributed to the final technology plan.
