Our highly resilient next generation voice network caters to wholesale, small and large enterprise clients and consumer services. Overall more than 2 billion voice minutes are carried annually. Our network consists of the following platforms which are specifically designed to support our various service types:
- A robust switching platform for handling interconnects, terminations and transits via SIP or ISUP links
- A global voice gateway that’s integrated to Tata Communications’ global voice network
- A flexible SIP trunking solution for enterprise and SME customers
- A voice switch dedicated to consumer and small office environments
Neotel’s IP network includes:
- Intelligent access devices
- Traffic monitoring and management systems capable of supporting feature rich functionality for customers such as Usage Based WAN (which allows the customer to manage their expenditure across their managed VPN)
- Bandwidth Boost (which allows for additional bandwidth on demand in real time)
We provide a highly resilient network which uses cutting edge service protection technology and design methodology. The network consists of a layered transmission network, optical protection switching of services in the core and layer 3 to the network edge.
The layered concept has allowed for a fast evolution in migrating the network Edge from layer 2 towards an enhanced layer 3 IP/MPLS-enabled Carrier Ethernet Edge with the optical integration of GMPLS DWDM as the transport model between core elements.
In addition, customers have the option of dual connections to separate Points of Presence to further increase their service levels.
The resilience of the network is enhanced by our carrier class 24/7/365 service assurance capabilities that ensure proactive resolution of issues and quick repair times thereby supporting stringent customer Service Level Agreements.
We own and operate capacity of 5 submarine cable systems in South Africa to allow efficient connectivity to the rest of the world. It allows us to efficiently route North American and European bound traffic via the west coast and Far East. Indian and Chinese bound traffic is routed off the east coast of South Africa. The number of systems and capacity available also make it possible to protect international routes to maintain connectivity during cable breaks making us the only operator to offer full cable diversity in the country.
The TCL network allows us to deliver traffic to 300 locations in 200 countries at the lowest possible latency. We provide connectivity to one of the largest, most advanced, seamless global transmission networks in the world.
Our National Long Distance Network (NLD) spans over 12 000km of fibre routes which links major centres and carries multiples of 10Gbps pipes. The NLD was designed with the main aim of providing resilient connectivity between metros, cities and towns. Its routes also connect the international landing stations to the main metros and to neighbouring states. The routes between the main metro areas of Gauteng, Durban and Cape Town are highly resilient providing an overall network availability performance of 99.999%.
We have over 8 000km of metropolitan fibre in Gauteng, Cape Town, and Durban metros. Additionally, over 800km of fibre to the curb or building (FTTx) in key business districts allowing for very fast service provisioning on request.
At present our network comprises IP/MPLS coverage in six major cities with core elements and aggregation nodes connected over 3-way nx10GE protection on long distance routes providing 5-nines network availability. We provide two International Internet gateway points of interconnect for local and international peering.
The layers of connectivity link to over 200 national Points of Presence supporting IP/MPLS and SDH based services which connect the customer via a range of last mile connections including fibre, GPON, LTE, microwave (PMP), WiMAX, CDMA, and partner access networks.
This range of access options ensures wider coverage and opportunities to access a larger customer base with a variety of services.
